How Vikings became Chameleon

Vikings asked Odin for help in their travels. He agreed to help them if they promised not eat any green coconuts. The green coconuts were magical and only Odin could eat them.

The Vikings obeyed Odin and enjoyed good travels until one day, after many days of open sea travel they arrived on a beautiful island with many coconut trees. They decided to camp for a while.

After a couple days of enjoying themselves to many fine coconuts, one moonless night one of the Vikings climbed a tree to grab some coconuts. In the darkness of the night, he didn't realize he was grabbing green coconuts. In the dark they looked brown.

The Vikings were enjoying the green coconuts when Odin threw down lightning from the sky and cursed the Vikings. He turned them into green lizards.

Thor felt bad for the Vikings. They hadn't intentionally eaten green coconuts, after all. He had pity on them and to help them avoid predators who would otherwise find bright green lizards to be easy prey, gave them the power to camouflage their skin. That is how chameleons came to be.
